Camp Loma History
Disclaimer: I know very little about this facility's history, but had to start somewhere. This is a short version of what I do know. If you know more details or corrections or have photos, I would be happy to amend this information and add photos as I can.
This facility came into existence in the 1920s as an FFA (future farmers of America facility)
In the 1930's the pool was constructed to assist in preparation for a local Olympians.
Sometime along the way this property came under ownership of the University of California extension program. (4H)
Serving many 4H youths to enjoy a wonderful summer camp experience.
During the 1970's the University of California decided to divest itself of properties like these.
A group of concerned parents and 4H volunteers decided to band together and purchase this facility.
Since then this group of unpaid volunteers has worked hard to keep this facility available for youth to be able to enjoy a wonderful summer camp experience.
As you may think, this camp requires much time and money to operate, and never has enough of either of these to bring this facility to the fullest of its potential.
If you wish to see this facility survive and thrive you can help.
You can give your time in many different ways and capacities.
A little time or a lot of time, your choice.
You can arrange to donate equipment or materials.
You can simply donate money if you wish or
help us bring attendance up,
by letting other people know about this facility and bring their group to camp at this wonderful facility.
